The First, Beautiful Words about Eid Ul Fitr 2020 / After Ramadan
Eid Ul Fitr is a day that we celebrate the success of our spiritual improvement, is also important as it represents the day for us to celebrate the success of enhancing the level of Taqwa in our hearts.
The Taqwa that we have earned by fasting during the month of Ramadan acts as a beautiful garment adorning our hearts and characters.
Let us observe what Allah says in Surah Al- A’raff verse 26:( يَا بَنِي آَدَمَ قَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاسًا يُوَارِي سَوْآَتِكُمْ وَرِيشًا وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَى ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ ذَلِكَ مِنْ آَيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ).
“O you children of Adam! We have bestowed the raiment [dress] upon you to cover your shame, as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment [dress] of taqwa, – that is the best. Such are among the signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition”.
Therefore, just as our physical bodies require clothing for protection and adornment, the same applies to our hearts and our character.
Let us a dorn them with the dressings of taqwa. Let us not cause the taqwa that we have cultivated throughout Ramadan to fade as soon as Ramadan leaves us, so to ensure that our level of taqwa is maintained within our hearts.
Let us implement three simple steps
1. Maintain our level of taqwa by being grateful and protecting the favours that Allah has bestowe upon us.
As further proof of our gratitude to Allah let us avoid activities that may impair our physical health, such as the habit of smoking, taking excessive intakes of sugar, or the consumption of excessive fatty and salty foods in our diet.
2. To maintain the level of taqwa in our hearts is to control our desires.
The failure to control his desire will lead im to lose his ability to distinguish between his needs and his abilities, until he confuses his own priorities in his life.
Let us ponder over this important warning by Rasululah s.a.w: “None of you (truly) believes until his desire or inclination is in accordance with what I have brought or subservient to what I came with”. [Hadith narrated by Imam Al- Hakim].
3. Strengthen the bonds of friendship and goodwill among ourselves.
The love for our fellow brother will never flourish if we allow our hearts to be infected by the disease of hatred and envy.
Therefore, we should look towards our brothers and sisters with honour and respect, and not to patronize them with words of insults and injury.
Let us appreciate and take cognizance of our success through the exercise of faith and piety which we have trained ourselves in the month of Ramadan.
Let us not waste the provision of taqwa which we have acquired in Ramadan as it is much needed as we face the challenges ahead.
