Through this article and that information, you’ll know why this page was dedicated to the United States (USA). We have plenty about Eid ul Fitr, and even Eid al-Adha, Eid Mubarak in both days. Now let’s take a closer look at what this page contains.
How important is Eid ul Fitr for Muslism!
There are two Eids celebrated in Islam and both follow major acts of worship. The first is Eid ul Fitr which follows the holy month of Ramadan and the second is Eid al-Adha, which follows the Hajj.
Ramadan is an entire month during which Muslims focus on purifying themselves, getting closer to God by performing prayers, reading Quran, and growing in their knowledge/faith. During Ramadan Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. This fasting includes refraining from food, drink, sexual intercourse, bad language, and bad behavior. By fasting we become more sympathetic to those less fortunate than ourselves because we feel what it is like to go without food or drink, we feel what it is like to be without. Which also cause us to be more generous and seek to alleviate hunger amongst the poor people. It also helps to bring us together with family, friends, and neighbors as we break our fasts together. It brings us closer as a community and to God by offering more worship.
After such an extensive training session comes celebration the big celebration. This is where Eid ul Fitr (the Festival of Breaking Fast) comes in. It is a celebration which lasts 3 days or more and celebrates the successful completion of Ramadan and the newly renewed spiritual cleansing and connection. This particular Eid is also associated with sweets, that’s why some call it the Sweet Festival, as sweets of various kinds are a common feature of this Eid. There are many different ways in which people celebrate the Eid but in general they all go in the morning to pray the special Eid prayer, gather for meals, and exchange different gifts.
Then after praying people generally have breakfast together. Others travel to family’s homes and or go to visit the graves of their loved ones. In the Middle East it is common to buy new clothes for the Eid and children often receive new money which is called (Eidia) and use the money to buy new toys and sweets. This Eidia is received from family and friends but generally comes from an adult to child. Gifts are also given to children by adults and older people in the family.
Finally, Eid will always be a special occasion for all the Muslims around the globe as it is the perfect time to express love, care and intimacy among families, friends and neighbors and because it has very special celebrations and comes only once every year, (Happy Eid ul Fitr 2018).
