Independence Day is one of the most famous days in America and the world. Independence Day in America takes place on the fourth of July, the day in which Americans celebrate their independence from the British Empire after signing a document called the Declaration of Independence, declared to King George III of England, after 188 years of colonizing America on July 4, 1776. Meanwhile that time, Britain used to exploit America’s different resources.
Consequently, once tensions started to rise between the British and the Americans, representatives from each of the 13 colonies came together and started to fight the colonizers which eventually led Americans to declare a war of independence against Britain, and led to America’s full independence from Britain.
After that Revolutionary War, Americans continued to commemorate Independence Day every year, in celebrations that allowed the new nation’s emerging political leaders to address citizens and create s feeling of unity.
The celebrations of this day are so special for Americans and therefore they take various forms. But nowadays, fireworks are considered the most common way to celebrate Independence Day. As a huge national holiday, people enjoy festivals including concerts, bonfires. Families and friends also gather together, enjoy outdoor barbecues, parties, go for picnics, and watch fireworks displays and parades throughout the country. Besides the most common symbol of the holiday which is the American flag, and the common musical accompaniment which is “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the national anthem of the United States.
The White House also puts on its own show on the South Lawn, while government officials also make speeches and take part in events.
Therefore, over the years, the political importance of the holiday would decline, but Independence Day remained an important national holiday and a symbol of patriotism.
That’s why America is considered one of the most powerful countries in the world, despite the fact that the United States had completely collapsed financially, at least twice and probably three times in the late 1890s and early 1900s. But America succeeded in overcoming this ordeal by providing its people with the freedom, safety, equality they always wanted and always called for throughout the history. Thus, it is widely known all over the world as the world’s leader country that leads the world according to the power it successfully gained, the power that cannot be compared to any other country to the present and maybe will never be in the future.
